You’re listening to Lingo Phoenix’s word of the day for July 7. Chocolate Day Today’s word is lip service, spelled l-i-p s-e-r-v-i-c-e. lip service /ˈlɪp ˌsɜːr.vɪs/ noun pay lip service to somebody/something to say that you support or agree with something without doing anything to prove it The professors all pay lip service to welcoming every point of view, but most really do not. A lot of adults pay lip service to the idea that it is important to listen to teenagers' ideas, but they tend to listen and then forget. Is this a real promise, or is this just lip service? So far all we've gotten from him is lip service. Many corporations pay lip service to create such a culture, but only 10% of enterprises actually build one, according to the CEB Corporate Executive Board (CEB), now part of Gartner Inc. — Ashu Goel, Forbes, 23 June 2021 With your word of the day, I’m Mohammad Golpayegani.
