This story is said to be inspired by a tale related to Ogot by her grandmother. Listen to the story to find what happens to her.About the writer- Grace Emily Ogot (15 May 1930-18 March 2015) was a Kenyan author, nurse, journalist, politician and diplomat. "The Rain Came" was published in 1964 in a collection named 'Modern African Stories.' Ogot's writings are a blend of her Christian upbringing and her Luo heritage.About the translator - Amarjit Chandan (b. 1946, Nairobi-Kenya) is an eminent Punjabi writer, editor, translator and activist living in the UK. He has eight collections of poetry and five collections of essays in Punjabi to his credit. His work is known internationally and has been translated into many global languages.
