'Dog Farm' is the story of attachment, guilt and parental love and loss. Through Kukku, the family dog, and Gulab, the son, Balwant Pharwali draws a powerful parallel between losing a beloved pet to a misunderstanding, and losing a child toemigration. The "dog farm" becomes both a literal place and a symbol of irreversible separation. The story ultimately suggests that relationships, once broken through fear or haste, leave wounds that endure long after the moment has passed. This short story was shortlisted for the Urmila AnandSimriti Puraskar-2024 Balwant Pharwali( b 1977) - has published two poetrycollections, one short-story collection and one novel titled 'Shivcharan'. He is Punjabi teacher by profession and teaches high school.
