توضیحات اپیزود
"Raavi Paar" - Across the river Raavi - is a short story steeped in partition trauma in which a father has to make a quick decision while crossing the border. Gulzar—born Sampooran Singh Kalra in 1934 in Dina, District Jhelum, now in Pakistan—is one of India’s foremost cultural icons. After spending his school years in Delhi, he moved to Bombay, where his poetic voice flourished through his association with the Progressive Writers’ Movement. The experience of Partition left a lasting impression on his imagination, bringing themes of displacement, separation, memory and lost homelands into much of his writing. Although widely celebrated as a poet, lyricist and filmmaker, Gulzar is equally a masterful storyteller. His acclaimed collections—including Raavi Paar , Dhuan and Half a Rupee Stories —explore ordinary people, complicated relationships, childhood, loneliness and the quiet ironies of everyday life. His storytelling is economical, visual and deeply humane. Rather than explaining everything, he often allows a small detail, an unfinished conversation or a moment of silence to reveal an entire emotional world. His stories carry the sensitivity and imagery of poetry while remaining firmly rooted in lived human experience. Gulzar’s remarkable creative repertoire extends beyond poetry, fiction and cinema to plays, ballets, music albums, television serials and books for children. His works have been translated into numerous languages and have received national and international acclaim. (Source: Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, 2024 ) Among his many honours are the 2002 Sahitya Akademi Award, the Padma Bhushan, the Academy Award and Grammy for “Jai Ho,” the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Jnanpith Award—recognition of a creative life in which poetry and storytelling have remained inseparable.
