توضیحات اپیزود

اطلاع از دوره های زبان: آیدی تلگرام : ad_lumi In 2014, a young woman named Michele Hansen came across a job opening for a product manager at an investment company. She was excited about the position but she wasn’t qualified for it: she had no background in finance and lacked the required number of years of experience. If you were in her shoes and you decided to go for it, what would you say in your cover letter? The natural starting point would be to emphasize your strengths and downplay your weaknesses. As Michael Scott deadpanned on The Office, “I work too hard, I care too much, and sometimes I can be too invested in my job.” But Michele Hansen did the opposite, taking a page out of the George Costanza playbook on Seinfeld: “My name is George. I’m unemployed and I live with my parents.” Rather than trying to hide her shortcomings, Michele opened with them. “I’m probably not the candidate you’ve been envisioning,” her cover letter began. “I don’t have a decade of experience as a Product Manager nor am I a Certified Financial Planner.” After establishing the drawbacks of her case, she emphasized a few reasons to hire her anyway: But what I do have are skills that can’t be taught. I take ownership of projects far beyond my pay grade and what is in my defined scope of responsibilities. I don’t wait for people to tell me what to do and go seek for myself what needs to be done. I invest myself deeply in my projects and it shows in everything I do, from my projects at work to my projects that I undertake on my own time at night. I’m entrepreneurial, I get things done, and I know I would make an excellent right hand for the co-founder leading this project. I love breaking new ground and starting with a blank slate. (And any of my previous bosses would be able to attest to these traits. Think Again ✅ Job opening: A vacant position available for application, موقعیت شغلی خالی ✅ Product manager: A person responsible for developing and managing a product, مدیر محصول ✅ Investment company: A company that invests money on behalf of clients, شرکت سرمایه‌گذاری ✅ Qualified for (something): Having the necessary skills or experience for a job, واجد شرایط بودن ✅ Background in: Previous education or experience in a field, پیشینه / سابقه در ✅ Lack the required experience: Not having the necessary experience, نداشتن سابقه لازم ✅ In someone’s shoes: In someone else’s situation, جای کسی بودن ✅ Go for it: Try to achieve or obtain something, دنبالش رفتن / اقدام کردن ✅ Cover letter: A letter sent with a job application explaining qualifications, نامه پوششی درخواست کار ✅ Emphasize your strengths: Highlight your strong points, روی نقاط قوت تأکید کردن ✅ Downplay your weaknesses: Make your weaknesses seem less important, کم‌رنگ نشان دادن ضعف‌ها ✅ Deadpan: To say something humorously with a serious face, بی‌احساس و خشک حرف زدن ✅ Take a page out of someone’s playbook: Copy someone’s strategy, از روش کسی تقلید کردن ✅ Unemployed: Without a job, بیکار ✅ Live with my parents: Reside in parents’ home as an adult, با پدر و مادر زندگی کردن ✅ Shortcomings: Weaknesses or flaws, نقاط ضعف ✅ Open with (something): Begin with something, شروع کردن با ✅ Envision: Imagine or picture mentally, تصور کردن ✅ A decade of experience: Ten years of experience, ده سال سابقه ✅ Certified Financial Planner: A professionally certified financial advisor, برنامه‌ریز مالی دارای مدرک رسمی ✅ Establish the drawbacks: Clearly state the disadvantages, مشخص کردن نقاط منفی ✅ Hire (someone): Employ someone for a job, استخدام کردن ✅ Skills that can’t be taught: Abilities that are natural or developed through character, مهارت‌های اکتساب‌ناپذیر / ذاتی ✅ Take ownership of: Accept full responsibility for, مسئولیت کامل را پذیرفتن ✅ Pay grade: Salary level or rank in a job hierarchy, سطح حقوق / جایگاه شغلی ✅ Defined scope of responsibilities: Officially assigned duties, محدوده تعریف‌شده وظایف ✅ Seek out: Actively look for, فعالانه دنبال چیزی گشتن ✅ Invest oneself deeply in: Become highly committed to, عمیقاً درگیر شدن در ✅ Undertake (a project): Commit to and carry out a task, بر عهده گرفتن ✅ Entrepreneurial: Having a business-minded, initiative-taking attitude, دارای روحیه کارآفرینانه ✅ Get things done: Successfully complete tasks, کارها را به نتیجه رساندن ✅ Make an excellent right hand: Be a highly reliable assistant or support person, دست راست فوق‌العاده بودن ✅ Co-founder: A person who starts a company with others, هم‌بنیان‌گذار ✅ Break new ground: Do something innovative, نوآوری کردن / مسیر تازه باز کردن ✅ Blank slate: A fresh start with no prior commitments, شروع از صفر / صفحه سفید ✅ Attest to: Confirm or give evidence of something, تأیید کردن / گواهی دادن ✅ Traits: Personal characteristics or qualities, ویژگی‌های شخصیتی
